I am a landlord. How do I benefit?
Exeter SmartMove is a rent deposit guarantee or “bond” scheme.
Although similar in name, our scheme is very different to the newly introduced Tenancy Deposit Protection Scheme.
We assist people to move into privately rented accommodation if they do not have savings for a deposit when they move in, and we help them save up for the deposit once they are in accommodation. We work to a model developed by the national charity Crisis.
Exeter SmartMove’s work has been held up as an example of good practice by Crisis SmartMove.
