Resettlement
What we do
The resettlement service provides housing related support to people with a range of enduring mental health issues and other support needs. A wide range of support is provided – budgeting, financial and benefit matters, independent living issues, work/ training, meaningful occupation, mental well-being, access to statutory and voluntary services, and resettlement. The project is funded by Devon Partnership NHS Trust, who refer clients deemed to be at risk of homelessness, or who are threatened with homelessness.
What we do…
The resettlement service has expanded considerably over the last few years. The service was initially set up due to an identified gap in the existing services for homeless clients when they were admitted to Acute Inpatient Mental Health Service. Since that time we have increased our role to include community resettlement; working with clients in their local community to tackle housing issues. The resettlement service works in collaboration with clients, carers, other statutory services and voluntary agencies involved in the treatment of the client, with the overall goal of supporting that client on their journey of recovery. During 2009/10, 156 new clients have been supported in total with 48 people directly housed. All clients have been helped in various ways such as helping them to maintain existing accommodation by looking at debt and benefit issues.
