Roger will speak about Housing Benefit developments in East Devon. If you are a landlord or landlady, you may have tenants or prospective tenants entitled to help from their local council towards paying their rent.

HELP & ADVICE FOR LANDLORDS & TENANTS
DENNIS BOOBIER - Housing Needs Manager, East Devon District Council.
Dennis allocates Council housing and assists homeless households. East Devon District Council has operated a Rent Deposit and Guarantee scheme for over 2 years and works closely with landlords. Dennis will talk about how landlords and the Council can work closer together.

Exeter Smartmove can help take the risk out of letting, making a landlord’s job easier.
Smartmove offers landlords a written guarantee in place of a cash deposit on behalf of clients and then supports tenants to enable them to act responsibly and maintain their tenancies.
Jacqui Gale - Community Housing Aid’s Director - will explain how Smartmove operates a rent deposit guarantee scheme for people on low incomes which helps them move into private rented accommodation.
Smartmove can advise landlords about changes in the law and upcoming legislation, handle all the paperwork including the inventory and act as mediators if disputes arise, interview all tenants before they approach landlords, and often try to match tenants to suitable properties.
